Basketball Game Preview: Walt Whitman Wildcats vs. Northport Tigers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Walt Whitman Wildcats duke it out with the Northport Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday... Walt Whitman will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Walt Whitman took their matchup with ease, bagging a 70-36 victory over Patchogue-Medford. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Northport had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 61-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kings Park back in December of 2024.

Walt Whitman pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Northport, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Walt Whitman didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Northport in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory.
