Baseball Game Preview: Heyworth Hornets vs. Tri-Valley Vikings

Heyworth hasn't had much luck against Tri-Valley recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Hornets will welcome the Vikings at 4:30 p.m. Heyworth is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

On Monday, Heyworth earned a 10-6 victory over El Paso-Gridley.

Maddox Klawitter was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Heyworth's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 8-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't). Parker Bell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Tri-Valley posted their closest win since March 29th on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lexington 9-7.

The team relied heavily on Cade Danko, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Alexander, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Tri-Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Heyworth's win bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Tri-Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Heyworth has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tri-Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
