Volleyball Game Preview: Newtown Nighthawks vs. Masuk Panthers

The Newtown Nighthawks will square off against the Masuk Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Masuk took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Newtown, who comes in off a win.

On Thursday, Newtown got the win against Brookfield by a conclusive 3-0. The Nighthawks haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-15, 25-20.

Newtown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kade Deraney led the charge by getting five digs and two aces. The dominant performance also gave Deraney a new career-high in assists (29). Noel Mcleod was another key player, getting nine kills and six digs.

Meanwhile, Masuk faced Shelton in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Panthers lost 3-0 to the Gaels.

Masuk's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4. As for Newtown, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
