Softball Game Preview: Warhill Lions vs. Bruton Panthers

Warhill is a perfect 10-0 against Bruton since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will host the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Warhill's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Tabb with a sharp 14-0 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

Skyler Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-6 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Auerbach - GMU, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Keamani Fujimoto was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Warhill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tabb only posted a batting average of .048.

Meanwhile, Bruton came into Wednesday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Lafayette 29-4 on Wednesday.

Bruton's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 3-10. As for Warhill, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Warhill took their victory against Bruton in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 28-3 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
