Baseball Game Preview: Montgomery Bears vs. Nederland Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Montgomery will face off against Nederland. The Bears will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Montgomery 3.6, Nederland 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Montgomery is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Nederland 11-2. Considering the Bears have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Montgomery got a great performance from Brayden Hernandez as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched. Hernandez has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Grant Richardson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Lukas Hosler was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Montgomery has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-11-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Nederland, their loss dropped their record down to 24-7.
