Baseball Game Preview: Glendale Vikings vs. Curwensville Golden Tide

The Glendale Vikings will head out to take on the Curwensville Golden Tide at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Glendale has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Glendale is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Williamsburg, falling 13-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

James Shaw and Levi Hamilton stepped up to the plate in a big way. Shaw got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double, while Hamilton went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ethan Gilbey, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Curwensville). They were the clear victors by a 20-9 margin over Marion Center on Friday. With that victory, the Golden Tide brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Curwensville got a massive performance out of Lincoln Hoyt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. Those six RBI gave Hoyt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Tkacik, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Curwensville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Glendale's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Curwensville, their record is now 6-9.

Glendale might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Curwensville when the teams last played back in April. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
