KIPP Esperanza won the last time they faced East Palo Alto Academy and Eddie Whiteside did his part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 45-30 thanks in part to Whiteside, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds. His afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

Despite the loss, East Palo Alto Academy had strong showings from Cristian Perez, who posted ten points, and Daray Kindle, who scored nine points.

KIPP Esperanza's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for East Palo Alto Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

KIPP Esperanza has already played their next matchup, a 56-45 win against Waldorf on the 11th. Hopefully East Palo Alto Academy paid attention to the Eagles' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Eagles at 4:15 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
