Football Recap: Big Spring Comes Up Short

If Big Spring was riding high fresh off their 49-14 takedown of Kermit two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Steers took a 28-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Andrews Mustangs on Friday. The Steers lost against the Mustangs in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 71-14 score last time.

JaeSean DeBouse was his usual excellent self, rushing for 163 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.4 yards per carry for Andrews. With that strong performance, DeBouse is now averaging an impressive 103 rushing yards per game.

Big Spring's loss dropped their record down to 4-3-1. As for Andrews, their record now sits at 3-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Big Spring will challenge rival Lake View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Andrews is set to square off against their familiar foe Pecos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
