Softball Recap: North Point Eagles vs. Bowie Bulldogs
With a playoff game on the line, North Point rose to the challenge on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Bowie Bulldogs a 19-0 shutout. Considering North Point has won nine contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Alyssa Blaney made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Blaney has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in six consecutive pitching appearances. Blaney was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Emily Yanick was incredible, going 4-for-4 with a home run, four runs, and five RBI. Another player making a difference was Morgan Dow, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
North Point has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Bowie, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
North Point will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Leonardtown. Leonardtown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season. Bowie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
