Baseball Recap: Choctawhatchee Finds Home Field Redemption Against Pine Forest

There's no place like home for Choctawhatchee, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past the Pine Forest Eagles 12-0 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Keeson Wheeler was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Choctawhatchee: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Figueroa, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Choctawhatchee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Forest only posted a batting average of .133.

Choctawhatchee has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. Pine Forest is on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Choctawhatchee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-4 win against Navarre on the 18th. As for Pine Forest, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 7-2 loss against Aletheia Christian Academy on the 21st.
