Volleyball Game Preview: Bishop Moore Hornets vs. Lyman Greyhounds

Bishop Moore is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will host the Lyman Greyhounds at 6:30 p.m. Bishop Moore will be strutting in after a victory while Lyman will be coming in after a loss.

Bishop Moore took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Apopka by a score of 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-23, 25-16, 25-27, 25-20.

Bishop Moore found their leader in sophomore Cole Ferris, who had 21 digs. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Ferris.

Meanwhile, in Tuesday's Canine Competition, Lyman had to take the L. They came up short against Hagerty on Tuesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Greyhounds have suffered against the Huskies since March 11, 2021.

While Lyman ultimately came up short, they really made Hagerty work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 28-26, 25-20.

Lyman has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Bishop Moore, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.

Bishop Moore skirted past Lyman 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Hornets repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
