Volleyball Game Preview: Oviedo Lions vs. St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders

The Oviedo Lions will head out to square off against the St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Oviedo comes in on eight and St. Thomas Aquinas on 16.

Oviedo is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Sunlake with a sharp 3-0 victory.

Oviedo's got stronger as the match went on, holding Sunlake to fewer and fewer points set over set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-15, 25-11.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas Aquinas made easy work of Bloomingdale on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 win.

St. Thomas Aquinas never let Bloomingdale on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-11, 25-18.

Oviedo's victory bumped their record up to 24-6. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their win bumped their record up to 27-4.

Oviedo suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to St. Thomas Aquinas in their previous meeting back in September of 2019. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
