Softball Recap: Gregori Makes It 15 in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Gregori, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on the Modesto Panthers with a sharp 18-9 win on Tuesday. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Arabella Port was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Angelina Hoffman was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. NeVaeh Scheper was another key player, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.

Gregori kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.

Gregori's victory was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Modesto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gregori will square off against Hughson at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Huskies have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Modesto, they will challenge Turlock at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
