Baseball Recap: Oneonta's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

After soaring to 20 runs the game before, Oneonta was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils by a score of 2-1. The Redskins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

Oneonta saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carter Clyde, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases. Clyde is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

With the defeat, Oneonta broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mortimer Jordan, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oneonta will face off against St. Clair County at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Mortimer Jordan, they will square off against Jasper at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Jasper will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Mortimer Jordan surely won't give up without a fight.
