Ernesto Gonzalez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed over his last three games. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landen Trevino, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Exavier Rodarte also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They blew past the Mustangs 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Like Corpus Christi Moody, Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial also got a great game from a two-way player: Aaron Castillo. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Castillo has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Zachary Hampton was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Ayden Colsa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King only posted an OBP of .429.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 5-8. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2-1.
