Broughton faced Wakefield in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Capitals wound up with the same score they had in their last game (26-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. Their defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Wakefield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sara Barlett led the charge by rushing for 62 yards and one touchdown on only six carries, while also catching one TD. Lyla Bagwell made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Broughton's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-4. As for Wakefield, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Coincidentally, Broughton and Wakefield will both be playing Corinth Holders the next time they take the field. The Capitals will head out to face the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Wolverines will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on the 1st.
