Volleyball Recap: Thornton Fractional North Takes a Loss

Thornton Fractional North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Joliet Central Steelmen. The Meteors were not able to make up for their loss to the Steelmen from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Thornton Fractional North sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-17, 22-25, 25-18.

Joliet Central found their leader in freshman Luis Zurita, who had 12 digs and three assists. Those 12 digs set a new season-high mark for Zurita.

Thornton Fractional North's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Joliet Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-16 record this season.

Thornton Fractional North does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Joliet Central, they will welcome Yorkville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
