Football Recap: Midway's Rushing Attack Does It Again

Midway waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Killeen Kangaroos as they made off with a 49-26 victory. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Kangaroos are ranked 454th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Midway's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andrew McNair, who threw for 169 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes, and also rushed for 32 yards. Those four passing touchdowns gave McNair a new career-high. Another back making a difference was Lathan Whisenton, who rushed for 135 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Midway was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Midway's record now sits at 7-1. As for Killeen, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Midway and Killeen will both be playing Bryan the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Kangaroos will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 6.
