Nelsyn Wheeler Turns in Season-Best Performance

Grand Island was led to victory by Nelsyn Wheeler, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Wheeler rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 128 or more in the last three games he's played.

His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 150 rushing yards dating back to last season.

On the year, Smith has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 116.2 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after eight games last season, he was only averaging 31.88 rushing yards per game.

Grand Island's Losing Streak Is No More Thanks to Brady Douglass

Grand Island's eight-game losing streak dating back to last season is now nothing but a memory thanks in part to Brady Douglass. On Friday Douglass picked up a sack and made ten total tackles. The effort also marked the most rushing yards (20) he has had since back in October of 2023.
