Baseball Game Preview: West Geauga Wolverines vs. Edgewood Warriors

The West Geauga Wolverines will take on the Edgewood Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Solon hit West Geauga with a four-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 6-6 draw.

Meanwhile, Edgewood can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They put the hurt on Madison with a sharp 15-5 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Warriors' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Geno Measel looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He is becoming a predictor of Edgewood's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 3-10 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Ethan Glaus was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Edgewood: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Alex Sperduto, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Edgewood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.

Edgewood's win bumped their record up to 5-11. With that draw, West Geauga's record moves to 14-6-1.

West Geauga was able to grind out a solid victory over Edgewood in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, winning 14-9. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
