Basketball Game Preview: Alexander Cougars vs. Lithia Springs Lions

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Alexander Cougars duke it out with the Lithia Springs Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday... Alexander has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Tuesday, Alexander didn't have too much trouble with Kennesaw Mountain as they won 74-56. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Mustangs are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lithia Springs was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-59 heartbreaker at the hands of East Paulding.

Alexander's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Lithia Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
