League recap: Gainesville tops Buchholz to extend winning streak

6A District 5 recap Oct. 16, 2012

Gainesville extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 5 this week by beating Buchholz, 44-7. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Hurricanes.

Gainesville took down the Bobcats 44-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Thanks to the talents of Adam Robles and Tyronte Files Vanguard has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Robles leads the league in passing with 677 yards, while Files has rushed for 563 yards this season. Lake Weir's Shawn Evans leads the league in receiving yards with 315 on 26 catches.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Hurricanes take on Vanguard. As it stands, Gainesville is in first, while the Panthers are in fourth.

Citrus led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on The Villages Charter.
