Baseball Recap: Ashton-Franklin Center Beats Indian Creek for Their Third Straight Victory

Ashton-Franklin Center had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Indian Creek on Friday. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Timberwolves. Considering the Raiders have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Nolan Rueff was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Logan O'Brien was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Ashton-Franklin Center always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian Creek only posted an OBP of .333.

The win (which was Ashton-Franklin Center's third in a row) raised their record to 12-7. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Indian Creek, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ashton-Franklin Center will host Polo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Indian Creek, they will be playing at home against Earlville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.83 runs per game on average), something the Timberwolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
