Softball Game Preview: Long Reach Lightning vs. Glenelg Gladiators

Long Reach hasn't had much luck against Glenelg recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Lightning will venture away from home to challenge the Gladiators at 4:15 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Monday, Long Reach didn't have quite enough to beat River Hill and fell 4-2.

Mt. Hebron hit Glenelg with a five-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Gladiators took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.

Katelyn Lindberg and Ivy Jones did some serious damage despite the final result: Lindberg went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Jones went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Glenelg's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Long Reach, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Long Reach came up short against Glenelg in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, falling 11-7. Can the Lightning avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
