Basketball Recap: Valley Pirates vs. Joseph City Wildcats
Valley lost against Joseph City back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Valley Pirates took a blow against the Joseph City Wildcats, falling 56-29. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Wildcats are ranked 49th).
Joseph City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Audrey Neill led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Neill is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed five or more in the last five games she's played. Amber Neill was another key player, going 5 for 12 on her way to 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Joseph City, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.
Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-22 win against Northland Prep Academy on the 11th. As for Joseph City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-10 victory against Music Mountain on the 11th.
