Baseball Recap: St. Edward Takes a Loss

St. Edward extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-20 in the process. They came up short against the Bishop McNamara Fightin' Irish, falling 10-0. The Green Wave were not able to make up for their defeat to the Fightin' Irish from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Bishop McNamara, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games.

For Bishop McNamara's part, Braylon Ricketts looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Ricketts has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Lotz and Callahan O'Connor did most of the damage at the plate: Lotz went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while O'Connor went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Max Rohr was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

While St. Edward had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
