Football Game Preview: New Canaan Rams vs. Darien Blue Wave + How To Watch

For the second straight game, New Canaan will face off against Darien. The Rams will face off against the Blue Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. New Canaan is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

New Canaan is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Darien, who was ranked 22nd at the time (New Canaan was ranked first). The Rams really took it to the Blue Wave for the full four quarters, racking up a 39-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Maddox Hoffman had an outrageously good game as he threw for 288 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.3% of his passes, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one TD. Those 288 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Bennett Heagle was another key player, picking up 66 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

New Canaan didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Darien to a completion percentage of just 22.2%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from six players: Andrew Esposito, Mikey Hiraman, Ryan Brooks, Bo Seelert, Jack Crowell, and Dante Marsili, who each logged one passes deflected. New Canaan wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 80%.

New Canaan's defense didn't let Player #7, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

New Canaan's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Darien, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.
