Baseball Game Preview: Burlingame Panthers vs. Palo Alto Vikings

The Burlingame Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Palo Alto Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Friday, Burlingame came up short against Menlo-Atherton and fell 7-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Burlingame got a good showing from Nick Armstrong, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Armstrong has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Palo Alto didn't have quite enough to beat Homestead on Friday and fell 5-4.

Palo Alto also got a good showing from Jackson Ehrlich, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Ehrlich has become a key player for the Vikings: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Coco Vonderhaar was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Justin Fung, who earned one RBI and two stolen bases.

Burlingame's record is now 10-14. As for Palo Alto, their record now sits at 11-13.

Burlingame skirted past Palo Alto 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
