Volleyball Recap: Bonita Vista Takes a Loss

Bonita Vista lost against Eastlake back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Barons took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans.

Bonita Vista couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Eastlake a tough time in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 28-30, 25-18, 25-13, 25-19.

Leading Eastlake to victory were Robert Almendarez and Michael Jaymalin. Almendarez had 17 assists and 13 digs, while Jaymalin had 12 assists and eight digs. That's the most digs Almendarez has posted since back in April of 2024. Evan Samson also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Bonita Vista has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-13 record this season. As for Eastlake, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-11.

Bonita Vista wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Otay Ranch on the 22nd. As for Eastlake, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Olympian on the 22nd.
