Shawnee is a perfect 4-0 against Northwestern since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Braves will challenge the Warriors at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Shawnee is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Blanchester get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Braves' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last six matchups.
Shawnee got a great performance from Alee Trimmer as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Trimmer has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lily Wilson was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maura Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Shawnee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blanchester only posted a batting average of .182.
Meanwhile, Northwestern came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Blue Devils.
Olivia Deane was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Addy Hensley, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Northwestern's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Shawnee, their win bumped their record up to 24-3.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Shawnee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .344. However, it's not like Northwestern struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Shawnee was able to grind out a solid victory over Northwestern when the teams last played back in April, winning 7-4. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
