Softball Game Preview: Mid-Carolina Rebels vs. Chester Cyclones

Mid-Carolina has gone a perfect 3-0 against Chester recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Mid-Carolina will venture away from home to challenge Chester at 7:30 p.m.

Mid-Carolina is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Strom Thurmond just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Strom Thurmond. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, Mid-Carolina couldn't push the score so high this time.

Malloree Grimsley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Ajaila Kibler also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Chester had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Red Devils. While the Cyclones didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Chester pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Mid-Carolina, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Mid-Carolina took their victory against Chester in their previous meeting back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mid-Carolina since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
