Baseball Recap: Three Straight Home Victories for Trigg County

Trigg County won against Crittenden County on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Rockets a 10-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-4 on Tuesday.

Aidon Butts made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Trigg County is undefeated when Butts posts eight or more strikeouts, but 3-5 otherwise. Butts was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Chase Hampton was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Jon Humphries also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Trigg County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crittenden County only posted an OBP of .318.

Trigg County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Crittenden County, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Looking ahead, Trigg County will look to defend their home field on Friday against Murray at 5:30 p.m. As for Crittenden County, they will head out on the road to challenge Madisonville-North Hopkins at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
