Basketball Game Preview: Woden Eagles vs. Shelbyville Dragons

Woden is 0-10 against Shelbyville since February of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Woden Eagles will face off against the Shelbyville Dragons at 8:00 p.m. Woden has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Woden is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Corrigan-Camden: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Woden blew Corrigan-Camden out of the water with a 72-34 final score. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Eagles have posted against the Bulldogs since January 9, 2015.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville waltzed into their game on Friday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They strolled past the Hornets with points to spare, taking the game 53-38. Given the Dragons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Hornets are ranked 1057th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory got Woden back to even at 14-14. As for Shelbyville, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-3.

Woden ended up a good deal behind Shelbyville in their previous matchup on January 3rd, losing 46-31. Can Woden avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
