Preview: Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles vs. Tempe Buffaloes
The Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tempe Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Bourgade Catholic: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Tempe has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.
Last Friday, Bourgade Catholic took a serious blow against Gilbert Christian, falling 62-14. While losing is never fun, Bourgade Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Gilbert Christian is ranked 101st).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Devon Lopez, who picked up 132 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Tempe was beaten by American Leadership Academy - Ironwood 41-14 on Friday.
Despite the loss, Tempe saw an underclassman step up: Saul Mendez threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns.
The losses dropped Bourgade Catholic to 0-8 and Tempe to 4-4.
