Basketball Recap: Stanhope Elmore Comes Up Short

Stanhope Elmore suffered their closest loss since January 10, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Calhoun Tigers by a score of 39-36. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 66-47.

Leading Calhoun to victory were Mariah Champion and Alivia Mason. Champion almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine steals, while Mason posted 18 points and five steals. The match was Mason's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of MaKayla Saffold, who put up two points and five boards.

Stanhope Elmore's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Calhoun, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.

Stanhope Elmore will challenge Elmore County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calhoun, they will face off against Highland Home at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
