Simsboro took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against Castor, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Simsboro sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Castor on Saturday. For Simsboro, this counts as revenge for the 18-2 victory Castor walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Carlei Wheeler was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Wheeler wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kailee Hamilton, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Ciara Caldwell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Simsboro's record is now 6-2. As for Castor, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
