Baseball Recap: Bellmont Triumphs

Bellmont's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian a 5-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for Bellmont in their matchups with Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Beau Baker, who gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian off the board. Baker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gavin Krull was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Aidan Zimmerman was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Bellmont's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Coming up, Bellmont will host Bluffton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, they will face off against DeKalb at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Barons will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
