Baseball Game Preview: Parklane Academy Pioneers vs. Silliman Institute Wildcats

The Parklane Academy Pioneers will face off against the Silliman Institute Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Parklane Academy earned a 7-4 victory over Copiah Academy.

Collin Smith was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Parklane Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Smith was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Young, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Parklane Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Eli Chandler was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Parklane Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Copiah Academy only posted a batting average of .136.

Meanwhile, Silliman Institute beat Wilkinson County Christian Academy 5-2 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Silliman Institute's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Parklane Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Everything went Parklane Academy's way against Silliman Institute in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Parklane Academy made off with an 11-5 win. Will Parklane Academy repeat their success, or does Silliman Institute have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
