Softball Game Preview: Whitefield Academy Wildcats vs. Bullitt East Chargers

The Whitefield Academy Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Bullitt East Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Whitefield Academy has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Whitefield Academy duked it out with Fern Creek on Thursday. The Wildcats might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-3 to the Tigers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Meanwhile, Bullitt East made easy work of Holy Cross on Thursday and carried off an 11-1 win. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Emma Thompson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kinnley Murphy, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bullitt East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Cross only posted an OBP of .235.

Bullitt East has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Whitefield Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
