Soccer Game Preview: Hinsdale Central vs. Proviso East

The Hinsdale Central Red Devils will face off against the Proviso East Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Hinsdale Central's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Proviso East has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Hinsdale Central is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Metea Valley, who was ranked 15th at the time (Hinsdale Central was ranked 12th). The Red Devils walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Mustangs on Thursday. The game was the first time Hinsdale Central have beaten Metea Valley on their pitch since March 15, 2016.

Avery Edgewater and Adriana Giannini scored all three of Hinsdale Central's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Proviso East had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They never let the Panthers get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Proviso East were the better team in the second half.

Proviso East's victory bumped their record up to 5-15. As for Hinsdale Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Everything went Hinsdale Central's way against Proviso East in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Hinsdale Central made off with an 8-0 win. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
