Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belleview Christian). They snuck past the Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes with a 49-44 win on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Bruins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Belleview Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tara Polson, who went 9 for 19 en route to 20 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Polson also posted a 47% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2023. Harjas Thiara was another key player, putting up 17 points and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Bishop Machebeuf saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Justina Cichos dropped a double-double with ten points and 15 boards. Cichos has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Annabelle McClary, who posted 11 points in addition to five assists and five boards.
Belleview Christian's record now sits at 3-14. As for Bishop Machebeuf, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-11.
