Softball Game Preview: Thornton Academy Trojans vs. Windham Eagles

The Thornton Academy Trojans will head out to take on the Windham Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Thornton Academy has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thornton Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Bonny Eagle on Wednesday. They came up short against the Scots, falling 13-0.

Thornton Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Bogardus, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Windham faced Cheverus in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Eagles fell 6-2 to the Stags. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Windham fell to 4-1. As for Thornton Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Thornton Academy couldn't quite get it done against Windham when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
