Baseball Game Preview: Springs Valley Blackhawks vs. Rock Creek Academy Lions

Springs Valley is on a five-game streak of home losses, and Rock Creek Academy an eight-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Springs Valley Blackhawks will host the Rock Creek Academy Lions at 12:00 p.m. Springs Valley will be strutting in after a win while Rock Creek Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Springs Valley turned things around against Orleans on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blackhawks have posted since April 18th.

The team relied heavily on Tanner Hall, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Manny Pantoja, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Rock Creek Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Shawe Memorial on Thursday and fell 11-10.

Liam Paro made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Garrett Gullion was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Rock Creek Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Springs Valley, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Springs Valley took their victory against Rock Creek Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Blackhawks repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
