Softball Game Preview: Seymour Indians vs. Calhoun Warriors

Seymour hasn't had much luck against Calhoun recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Indians will be playing at home against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m.

Seymour's tournament run continued when they took on Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia on Saturday. The Indians took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Calhoun had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 13 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Audrey Gilman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 19 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and eight RBI while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Annie Wilson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Pelletier, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

Calhoun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Calhoun's win bumped their record up to 15-6. As for Seymour, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-9-1.
