Baseball Game Preview: Blacksher Bulldogs vs. Washington County Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Blacksher will face off against Washington County. Blacksher will be playing in front of their home fans against Washington County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Blacksher's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matches, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Thursday. Blacksher lost 9-1 to Washington County. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Blacksher has suffered since February 21st.

For Washington County's part, Landon Dearmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. Dearmon also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Washington County is 6-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ty Owens, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Myles Thornton was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Washington County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blacksher only posted an OBP of .276.

Washington County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-17. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Blacksher, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.
