On Thursday, Northshore faced Destrehan in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Northshore Panthers blew past the Destrehan Wildcats 8-0. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 8-5 victory the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Not much got past Carson Malasovich, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Destrehan off the board. What's more, Malasovich gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Northshore got a big performance out of Aviel Johnson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Johnson has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Smith, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Northshore's win bumped their record up to 17-3-1. As for Destrehan, they dropped their record down to 11-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Northshore will have a chance to go back-to-back against Destrehan: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
