Northridge (Greeley, Colo.) bested Berthoud (Colo.) 42-6 while riding the arm of
Brenden Fulton, who tossed four touchdown passes.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Fulton to
Jay Frye in the first quarter, the Grizzlies led 35-0 at the half.
Northridge grew its lead to 42 points entering the fourth quarter. NHS scored once in the quarter on a touchdown run by
Tony Dennis-Lopez.
The Greeley school scored 29 points in the second quarter on the way to a win. The Grizzlies scored on a touchdown run by
Jaedon Mills, a touchdown pass by Fulton to
Kayson Werner, a Fulton touchdown pass to Frye and a touchdown pass by Fulton to Werner in the quarter.
Berthoud's lone touchdown came on an 18-yard pass from Cody Braesch to Jackson Hall in the fourth quarter.
Northridge has had a tough season, allowing 32.1 points per game. However, Northridge's defense stepped up, holding the Spartans well below their season average of 21.0 points per game.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Greeley school, which was coming off a 41-14 defeat at the hands of Mead in its previous game. The win broke Northridge's three-game losing streak. The loss was the fourth in a row for Berthoud.
In a 3A Tri-Valley game next week Northridge (4-4) takes on Roosevelt, and Berthoud (1-6) will go up against Skyline also in a 3A Tri-Valley game.
