Basketball Recap: Ella Busby's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Summertown over Gatlinburg-Pittman

Summertown and Gatlinburg-Pittman squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Summertown had to settle for second. They lost to the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders on the road by a 50-36 margin.

Summertown's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Busby, who posted 14 points and five rebounds. That was a full 38.9% of Summertown's points, marking the third time in a row Busby has had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Blackwood, who earned six points and eight boards.

Maliyah Glasper was her usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-8 from downtown and almost dropping a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds for Gatlinburg-Pittman. That's the most points Glasper has posted since back in January. Chloe Mejias was another key player, putting up six points.

Summertown's loss dropped their record down to 25-6. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-11 record this season.

Summertown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gatlinburg-Pittman has already played their next contest (against York Institute), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
