Hobbs dropped their record down to 13-11 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 9-5 to the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Cavemen/Cavegirls this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-5 defeat last Monday.

Jaquelynn Fuentez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Carlsbad, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Carlsbad's side, Parris Weldon and Allyson Madrid did most of the damage at the plate: Weldon got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and four RBI, while Madrid went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Weldon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Hernandez, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carlsbad beat Hobbs by a score of 13-5 later that day.
