Baseball Recap: Rio Linda Triumphs

Rio Linda won the last time they faced Dixon and things went their way on Friday too. The Rio Linda Knights walked away with a 9-4 win over the Dixon Rams. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Mathias Culp made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Peyton Greenfield and Carlos Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Greenfield scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Martinez scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Greenfield a new career-high. Another player making a difference was DJ Lloyd, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Rio Linda back to even at 3-3. As for Dixon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5-1 record this season.

Rio Linda will venture away from home to square off against Destiny Christian Academy at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Dixon, they will host Woodland at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Dixon is facing Woodland at the right time seeing as Woodland is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
